What is Spiritual Direction?

I had an uncle who was a hunting and fishing guide in northern Maine. He knew the territory well, knew which spots were plentiful and which were not. His job was to point his clients to these places so that they could have a successful trip. He saw things that they could not yet see, and his job was to point them out and guide his customers in their travels.

Spiritual direction is like that (although no animals are harmed in the making of it). My experience as a Catholic, as a Christ-follower, and as a minister help me to journey with directees to fruitful places, pointing out things that you may not yet be able to see, and to accompany you on your journey of faith. 

You'll bring whatever you want to talk about, and we'll talk about it, and God will join in the conversation. 

Answers to FAQ's:

+ Appointments are scheduled in 45-minute increments but can last up to one hour.

+ I ask for a fee of $55.00 per session (for new directees, as of July 2025) but this is negotiable. Please do let me know if the cost is an obstacle.

+ If you are connecting with me via the Center for Spiritual Direction at Holy Family CT, The Center requests an additional offering of $10-$25 per session to support their operational and administrative expenses. This can be paid separately to the Center at this link.

+ There is no cost for our initial conversation.
